With a focus on emerging market countries - particularly in Africa, Kate’s in-house General Counsel role oversaw legal and compliance activities for 29 African countries. Prior to that engagement, she built, led and grew the first in-house Legal, Contract and Compliance function at BroadReach Healthcare, a global healthcare technology and USAID/CDC PEPFAR implementing partner organization – based in South Africa and Washington, DC. Kate spent a decade as General Counsel with BroadReach, building and overseeing all global contracting, compliance, risk, governance and legal operations for the Group. Before joining the international development sector, Kate honed her in-house legal operations skills in the commercial sector, serving as the first in-house Legal & Contracts Manager at Engel & Völkers, USA (Florida & California), a leading European luxury property group where she successful supported the company’s first US market penetration and expansion. Before her in-house legal career, Kate spent 10 years in private practice at law firms in Florida, focusing on corporate commercial, property, insurance, class actions, toxic torts and products liability matters.

Kate hails from London, grew up in Bahrain and Hong Kong, studied in South Africa and the US, and considers herself a true global citizen. She’s an avid Springbok rugby fan and loves to keep aligned by practising yoga!
